Hello! I’m Matthias Karl Schaefle, a product designer with a unique background that bridges the worlds of science and design. Born to a German father and a Brazilian mother, I proudly hold dual nationality, which has shaped my multicultural perspective and approach to design.
My academic journey began at the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais, Brazil. During my Biology course, I was selected by the Science Without Borders Program for a scholarship in the vibrant city of Munich, where I continued my studies at the Technical University of Munich. During a two-year exchange, I conducted research and improved my German to a B1/B2 level, broadening my horizons and valuing interdisciplinary collaboration.
With the pandemic and the shift to the online environment, I discovered UX and became fascinated by how it shapes user interactions and experiences. Motivated by this realization, I began studying in the field, applying problem-solving methods and attention to detail skills gained from my scientific background, now enthusiastically applied in UX design.
I promptly seek out people to talk to, ask questions, and watch videos or tutorials to gain clarity and figure things out. What I don’t know, I learn fast. Because, hey, that’s how I rolled my own website!
I actively seek feedback, never hesitate to ask for it, and openly discuss with stakeholders and team members. I enthusiastically embrace the advice I receive
Beyond creating aesthetically pleasing screens, my design approach is focused on elevating user experience. I believe that the best digital experiences are those that seamlessly integrate usability, aesthetics, and functionality.
In my off time, I love to game on my Xbox, take strolls with my German Spitz, binge-watch Dragon Ball Z & The Office, tend to my plants, devour pizza, laugh at meme reels, study German, whip up recipes in the air fryer, hit the gym to lift weights, read the news, and fix things around the house. My free time is a mix of fun, food, fitness, and learning, with a bit of nerdiness thrown in for good measure.
